Posture & Pilates for Paddlers – March 23rd


Join Ocean Academy for a special 90-minute clinic with certified Pilates coach and ELDOA instructor Lynann Escatel, to learn movements and stretches that will help improve your strength and posture for paddling. This clinic will include an anatomy review of the pelvis to the feet to help you better understand your body and how it moves. Lynann will explain how the awareness of feet and knees affect your posture, and teach exercises to help you improve your strength, flexibility, and mobility as well as awareness of how to adjust your posture. You will also learn ELDOA postures to help support your lumbar and shoulder health.

Time: 10:30am- 12:00pm

Location: Baby Beach, Dana Point Harbor, *Meet on the beach just south of the lifeguard tower.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check-in. Give yourself ample time to park.

What you will need to bring:

  • Yoga Mat (I would recommend doubling the mat if you can and especially if you have a sensitive back)
  • Small hand towel (not for sweat)
  • If you have a tight neck, a small pillow recommended, or second towel to support your head.
  • Water and be ready to have fun while learning some new things

Lynann is an avid standup paddle racer, surfer, and former professional dancer. From her experiences as an athlete in these realms, she knows first and foremost how important mobility, recovery and body care are in order to continue doing the activities she loves. Lynann’s credentials are extensive; Romana certified Pilates instructor, Level 4 Eldoa trainer, and she is the first certified “Feet-ness” instructor.
