February Ocean Academy SUP Training Club

February brings an exciting stretch of racing with two key events on the calendar: the Hal Rosoff Classic on February 14 and the Lanakila Classic on February 21st. This month, Ocean Academy’s SUP Training Club continues building race readiness while sharpening execution for back-to-back competitions. Training will focus on refining strategy, conditioning, technique, and confidence to ensure athletes are prepared to perform at a high level across multiple race formats.

While each race presents unique demands, February training will emphasize versatility — blending ocean awareness with race-specific skill work. Athletes will dial in starts, pacing, buoy turns, and finishes, while continuing to develop the open-ocean skills needed to adapt to changing conditions on race day.

Whether your goal is to fine-tune performance for these February events or maintain strong mid-season momentum, this Training Club provides the structure, coaching, and community to keep you progressing.

  • Race preparation for Hal Rosoff & Lanakila Classics
    • Starts, buoy turns, and finishing speed
    • Pacing strategies for multi-race weekends
    • Drafting tactics and pack management
    • Open-ocean skills for variable conditions
    • Reading conditions: tide, wind, swell, and water movement
    • Translating technique into consistent race execution

You’ll learn how to manage energy, adapt to conditions, and execute smart, confident race plans across multiple events.

In addition to the three in-person training sessions, athletes will receive a structured supplemental training program including paddling, strength, core, and cardio workouts.
