$125 per paddler | Limited to 18 paddlers

OC1 season is right around the corner! Before Ocean Academy’s OC1 Training Club gets underway, join coaches Candice Appleby and Grace Hardy for a hands-on OC1 Technical Tune-Up Clinic designed to help you get back into your canoe with better technique, confidence, and control.

Whether you’re a newer OC1 paddler, just coming off your first novice OC6 season, or an experienced paddler looking to check back in with your fundamentals before small-boat season, this clinic is an opportunity to slow things down, fine-tune your technique, and build a stronger connection with your canoe.

We’ll break down the OC1 stroke from the ground up, focusing on proper body mechanics, power application, efficiency, and glide. Candice and Grace will help paddlers identify common technique mistakes and better understand how small adjustments in posture, rotation, timing, and connection can make a big difference in both speed and efficiency.

But paddling an OC1 well is about more than just the stroke. We’ll also spend time developing stability, bracing, and boat-handling skills to help you feel more comfortable and confident in your canoe.

What We’ll Cover

  • OC1 stroke technique and body mechanics
  • Posture, rotation, reach, catch, power, and release
  • Creating better connection and efficiency through the stroke
  • Finding and maintaining glide
  • Stability and balance drills
  • Proper bracing technique
  • Developing confidence and comfort in your canoe
  • Boat handling and general OC1 care
  • How to safely carry and handle your canoe
  • Proper rigging and ama setup
  • Seat positioning and paddler setup
  • Common OC1 mistakes and how to correct them
